Douglas Dare has returned with his latest single, ‘One Eye Open’. It’s a huge, heavy and bold track that allows itself to fully indulge in the massive club sound that has become a key part of his live experience recently. The synths are seriously thick and the four-to-the-floor bass drum is necessarily relentless, with vocal samples dancing around the top of the texture. Despite this danceable, accessible sound, there is still a layer of avant-garde uniqueness threaded throughout, with shifting rhythms and indefinable sounds matching his Bowie/Reznor-esque vocal cadence. “I leaned fully into a heavy club sound and I was surprised to hear it worked in this new way,” he explains. “It was so heavy that it didn't make sense to include on the Omni album so we saved it for its own moment.” Douglas Dare’s latest album, Omni, is out now via Erased Tapes.
